Tri Morave Prokupac – Premium Serbian Red Wine from a Native Grape Variety
Discover the bold character and heritage of Serbia with Tri Morave Prokupac, a premium red wine made from one of the country’s oldest and most treasured native grape varieties. Grown in the heart of the Tri Morave wine region, this elegant red showcases the unique expression of Prokupac, a grape often compared to Shiraz for its vibrant fruit, spice, and depth.
Prokupac has been cultivated in Serbia for centuries and is now gaining global recognition for its potential to produce high-quality, terroir-driven wines. Tri Morave Winery crafts their Prokupac with a balance of tradition and modern winemaking, resulting in a wine that is smooth, structured, and full of character.
Tasting Notes:
With its Deep ruby red with purple hues it has hints of ripe red berries, dark cherries, subtle smoke, and hints of spice
A medium to full-bodied, with balanced acidity, soft tannins, and notes of plum, pepper, and earthy undertones
Why Try Prokupac?
If you enjoy wines like Shiraz or Syrah, you’ll appreciate Prokupac for its fruit-forward profile, gentle spice, and food-friendly structure. However, Prokupac brings a uniquely Balkan twist – lighter on tannins, slightly more rustic, and deeply rooted in Serbian winemaking tradition.
TEMET Winery cultivates 37.8 hectares of vineyards across 19 parcels at 250–330m elevation, with diverse soils ideal for both native Serbian varieties like Prokupac, Morava, and Tamjanika, and international grapes such as Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. All vineyard work is done by hand, and since 2018, cultivation has been fully organic, using no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Grapes are grown exclusively on-site using traditional methods, carefully balanced with modern knowledge to produce wines of exceptional quality, integrity, and character.
