Vinarija Dingač Plavac is a classic Croatian red wine made from the indigenous Plavac Mali grape, grown in the esteemed Pelješac wine region on the Dalmatian coast. The Dingač area is Croatia’s first legally protected wine appellation (established 1961) and recognised for producing some of the country’s most powerful and character-filled red wines.

Plavac Mali — “little blue” in Croatian — is the variety behind this wine, bringing deep colour, rich dark fruit flavours and structured tannins. Wines from the Dingač vineyards often show expressive aromatics of dark plum, blackberry, spice and Mediterranean herbs, shaped by long sunshine hours, sea-influenced breezes and rugged karst soil that define this terroir.

In the glass, Vinarija Dingač Plavac typically presents a ruby to deep garnet colour with aromas of ripe berries, plum and subtle peppery spice, followed by a medium to full body and a pleasant, layered palate. The wine is usually dry, with fine tannins and a finish that pairs well with grilled meats, game, rich stews and aged cheeses — ideal for Mediterranean and hearty Australian cuisine alike.

This style represents a true expression of Croatian coastal terroir, where tradition and natural conditions come together. While specific award listings for this bottling vary by vintage and importer release, Dingač Plavac wines from this region regularly feature among top Croatian reds in international tastings and are held in high regard by sommeliers and collectors for their quality and character.
